| 辽代承袭唐五代旧制，在军队中设有都监。辽代仍延用五代已有的临时型都监、常驻型都监两种类型。辽朝所置临时差遣型都监基本与五代相同，只是对势力较大的军队会派都监临时监管。常置性都监相较五代有较大发展，表现在两个方面，一是设置范围扩大，二是职权增大。 |

| The Liao Dynasty inherited the old system from the Tang and Five Dynasties, with supervisor set up in the army. The Liao Dynasty still continue to use the existing two types of supervisors from the Five Dynasties, one is temporary supervisor, the other one is permanent supervisor. The temporary supervisor in Liao Dynasty is basically same with the Five Dynasties, but only used on armies with large forces. Compared with the five Dynasties, the permanent supervisor has a great development, which can be seen from two aspects, one is the extension of supervising scope, second is the enhancement of power. |
