Abstract: Embodied cognitive strategy is a situational learning method that emphasizes the interaction between the body and the external world. It focuses on children’s physical participation and provides a platform for children’s “embodied reading”. In this study, action research method was used to introduce the concept of “embodied reading strategy” to investigate the periodical characteristics of 4-5-year-old children’s story reading comprehension, and on this basis, a total of 5 story education activities with 3 themes were implemented. The results show that: 4-5-year-old children are at the key stage of implementing the story content comprehension teaching, and the adoption of embodied reading strategy to guide children to pay attention to the main connections and hidden information between pictures to understand the story as a whole is an effective strategy to improve children’s story reading comprehension ability. However, children are prone to problems such as the accumulation of stiff expression patterns and the segmentation of stories when using embodied reading strategies. After discussion and improvement of children’s embodied reading experience, teachers and students can effectively solve this problem by focusing on key events together.
